I've considered making a homeade CAI for my truck using one of those cone shaped K&N air filters, but I had a question first.

Has anyone had any experience driving their truck in very wet weather with a CAI like that? It seems to me that the stock air box will trap most if not all water in it, where as the CAI doesn't have any way to really trap water. Wouldn't the K&N just let the water flow straight into the intake?

*shrugs*

yeah. i found out the hard way that when submerged in water, an open filter element and tube suck water into the engine like a straw. however, if you look at how protected the filter area is, wet weather wont really make a difference. ive driven on the interetate in terrible t-storms and never had any problem with water ingestion.

not a whole lot for hp, but it made a hell of a difference for throttle response, and added a little top end. also makes a cool whistling noise.

Excellent. How much of a performance gain did you get from switching yours?
Probably something like 4-6 rwhp, so around 8-10 flywheel hp maybe.
