I've been fighting a coolant leak for about a month or 2 now and though I fixed it, The heater hose running into the truck had a pin hole leak that split open and revealed itself. I replaced it thinking it was the issue but about every 2 weeks my Coolant reservoir has been low, I noticed after shutting the truck off there was a small but very noticeable poodle right below the reservoir (Not the 1st time, just never though of anything about it) I have replaced the radiator, radiator lines, water pump, thermostat almost 4 months ago. I've also checked the dip stick and dont see signs of coolant being in the oil. Im lost and need help
Being that the puddle is below the reservoir have you checked the reservoir? Lines running to the reservoir? I had to replace a freeze plug this summer that was weeping, no puddles to be found but you could smell the coolant.
You can borrow a cooling system tester from your LAPS and pressurize you cooling system with it cool and not running. W/O the air swirling around and the engine noise your leak will readily show itself.
I fought disappearing coolant for a while and finally got tired of filling the bottle. As stated above, pressure test revealed the problem immediately. Intake manifold gaskets. The coolant would run down the block and burn off (I guess) because I couldn't see it on the ground anywhere.
