I bought a blazer out of a mud pit a couple weeks ago for $200. Trans was pulled and they had a "good trans" too it came w both. I wanted to see if this motor runs before i waste time installing this transmission of unknown origin. I have the starter and everything. Can i bolt it up and kick it over n see if it runs?

Outside of the fact there may be a number of things besides the starter disconnected, if the flexplate is on the motor you should be able to start it. One thing that may give you some grief is the neutral safety switch. Also be sure the rear of the engine is supported. Not just hanging in there. On there era Blazer I believe the exhaust is likely removed back to the muffler. I had to pull mine.

The exhaust is removed ... Well a specific part. The flex plate is there. I got under and looked. Looks like they left the exhaust on when they removed the bolts are orange. So i may have an issue with the neutral safety switch not letting the motor kick over? And id have the install the starter to find that out right?

UPDATE: I believe the neutral safety switch was an issue got the starter reinstalled had sparks at the battery terminal on the starter from the batter but got nothing at the key. Im gonna look into a remote ignition switch.

I am gonna mess with it tomorrow. Thanks guy

Will i be able to shut it off at the ignition if I buy a remote switch and test it?
Yes. The remote switch is just a button that engages the starter. All other functions will still be controlled by the key.

You could probably also just jump the terminals at the NSS connector, but I think the remote starter is easier.
