If the SRS light is off its good. The module continually monitors the integrity of the system.

From the truck.

I have the airbag from a c6 which I only need the cover.

I just need the airbag from a gm truck so I can change the mounting bracket and install to the c6 cover.
I dont have a part number. I searched ebay and it seems there using the gm number on the cover, so when you search by that number its giving me single and dual stage units.

2003-2007 chevy express van or 2500HD silverados. I bought mine off ebay and they can be had for around 50-60. Just preview the pics to make sure the connector is the same. I was going to solder on the right airbag connector had mine not been right. Some say thats a bigger no-no but I would have done it with out a problem. If you have more detailed questions shoot me a pm with a number and ill give you a call.

NO. there is a LOT of engineering that goes into air bag systems. there are a ton of sensors and computers incorporated into the system, and it would be very difficult to throw something together yourself.

It could be done, but it would take alot of money to do it properly. SRS systems are something you don't want to cut corners on because if you do, they will cause more harm than no airbags at all.

wear your safety belt, drive conscientiously, and use common sense and you should be fine.

But bravo for making safety a number one concern!!

Thanks. I kinda figured there were computers involved. I only ask because I know there are lots of retard drivers out there. I've only had my lisence for 4 months and I've almost been in 3 accidents... AND my friend just got rear ended in his brand new car by a girl texting and driving ( she rear ended him doing 50, after skidding for 50 feet. he was at a complete stop)

Thanks for the help!

Well I read this all and WOW!!! I'm in but honestly not even gonna try to make the airbag work. I just one question could you wire up the steering wheel controls to work?
Not sure on this. You might be able to use the s10 clockspring with wheel controls and wire it to the switches on the vette wheel. I think it depends on if the switches are the same style. I thought about this but the wheel was in and I didnt want to spend anymore money.

One thing you may want to keep in mind when messing with airbags...the chemical (sodium azide) that makes them go boom will also kill you if inhaled or ingested. Last I heard, there is no antidote. If you have a broken or leaking container of this stuff be very careful.
