I have C5 Corvette rims (17x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear) with 2 inch spacers on each wheel and the front tires rub at about 1.5 turns
It rubs on the sway bar and the frame on both sides closer to the front

2" spacers do not provide enough room at all.
I use 2.5" spacers at all 4 corners. At times they do rub at full lock but it's tolerable. 2.75" will help more but tends to put the tire outside the well or right there at the lip so a decent bump or dip in the road may cause the tire to contact the fender

The second gens must be a little bit wider than the firsts. I might be able to get away with a 2.25 without it sticking out, or just barely sticking out

FWIW

I run a 2” spacer with ls1 brakes which give or take is about 2 5/16”. 18/19 C6 wheels. 2” might not be enough. I hear people have good luck with 2.25. 2.5 might be too much

Some of the different spindles increase the track width too. Be mindful of that. Extra money spent on the hub centric nicer spacers/adaptor seems smart to me. Good luck sir.
