I bought a 3-5” inch lift for my truck (89 s10, rear wheel drive, long bed). After installing the drivers side shackle I attempted to remove the bottom bolt for the shock and the head snapped clean off. I managed to remove the shock and planned to heat and vice grip the bolt out but there is a casing around it preventing me from doing that. I’m looking for any alternatives or methods to remove the bolt. Is my only option to drill it out and tap a new thread? And what diameter drill bit do I need to safely drill the bolt out? Any help is appreciated.

If I understand you correctly, I would go to the salvage yard to get a new shock mount/spring pad mount
