holy crap guys, thanks for this how to. I just bought myself an s10 and upon driving AN HOUR to get there to look at it, the kid tells me as I get in to test drive that the signals don't work because he broke the hazard button off. So awesome, I'm figuring I have to do the entire freaking assembly. Now that I found this, I am ready to spend the two minutes simply replacing my hazard button. Yay!!!:D

Awesome i found this how-to! I had boughten my blazer with a missing hazard switch but had a screw in there, i was like WTF? So i took it out and sure enough the hazards kept going off so i put the screw back in..

Now i can buy this part and fix it so it doesn't stay ghetto rigged! LOL

grab the tilt lever and pull it strait to the left, it will just pop out, and the wheel doesnt have to come off to replace the switch

Called my dealer for this part. Said it wont work since I dont have tilt or cruise. I would have to buy a ~300 dollar part to fix.....
go buy the hazard switch only, there is something up with the parts look up and its not the guys at the desks fault. i did some work at a chevy dealer for a couple months and had him look it up for me, he told me the same thing.

just give them the part # and buy the hazard switch. it will work

Does anyone know if this repair will work on a 2000 Jimmy - I've got a problem with the cruise, high beams and right turn signal - that all work fine with just a little pressure on the hazard switch.

Also, if it's been fixed under the recall, and has the problem re-appear?
I'd rather not rip into this if I can get it fixed for free.

Thanks!

For some reason it doesn't show up on the normal browsing system
Thats bullshit. Im on the gm computer right now and its listed clear as day...

FYI... parts guys get paid commission on what they sell...

Not much money to be made on a 9.00 item.

Most mgmt pushes up selling...

and most parts guys are not the sharpest tools....

theres usually one guy at the dealer who is helpful and knows parts off the top of his head...

The reason the GM site has high shipping prices is because you are getting charged to have someone "pick" the parts at the distributor level.

Our local Gm whse is the size of 3 blocks....

New guy here. Bought a '97 Isuzu Hombre (bastard child GM/Isuzu thing) and it has the same broken switch. Even looks the same as the first pic in the thread. Hopefully nothing is different on my truck. The company I work for owns a GM dealership and I'm gonna have them get me one.

Woohoo. Now I can take the damned screw out of it and fix it properly. I hate rigging stuff.

FYI, I used one in an Astro van and it worked fine. It was for a used car lot. Got a $20 tip for saving them $300

I just broke that damn switch tonight. I've had the dash piece out maybe 6 times over the years.
Don't try to remove the dash piece in the dark with a headlamp on !
