Little late, but here is what I did.
I hollowed out that plastic hinge piece as best I could with a dremel tool. Then 'carved' a piece of wood that fit snugly in that hole. Then epoxyed the wood in. Let it set for a day, then superglued the broken off pin piece back on. Cut off the pin.
Drilled a 1/4" hole thru it. (I drilled a 1/16" pilot hole first) And inserted a piece of 1/4" dowel. Re-shaped my wood with the bench grinder. 1/4" dowel was a little sloppy, so I put a couple layers of shrink tube over it.
NOTE: Might be easier to cut the entire hinge bracket off, then make a similar piece out of wood, and drill a couple holes thru the glove box door to fasten it. (A solid piece of plastic or aluminum would be nice )
