I have my first s10, it was my brothers, I know how much heck it's been put through. Every now and then the brakes will go to the floor and the only one that would stop is the passenger rear tire. Where should I start? Bleeding the brakes? Brake booster? I just need some advice

sounds like a dream come true.

i'd check the fluid, and pump the brakes and have someone look at the master cylinder to see if its leaking

and at the same time take a break from that and look underneath to see if it's leaking from the calipers as you're pumpin the brakes...

and you might as well bleed the brakes anyways.

Also I noticed today that when the transmission is in neutral (5 Speed), the engine will drop to 500 rpm then shoot up to 1200 rpm. It does that as if its hesitating to do something. Also, when i stop then put it in 1st gear and hit the gas pedal, the RPMs go up but the truck doesnt move, it will slightly begin to accelerate. I go to second gear and same thing, then when i hit 3rd gear it starts accelerating like normal. The engine and tranny both have 273,429 original miles. The synchros in the tranny are starting to go out, it doesnt like to go into 2nd gear sometimes. I have to put it in 2nd, then hold the shifter there for a few seconds or else it will pop out of gear and into neutral

Just replaced the Master Cylinder on a friends truck that was doing this.

Try this.

When you're noticing it go to the floor, get moving and stomp on the pedal. If the brakes go hard and lock the tires up/you slow down really fast it's the master cyl. When you depress the brake slowly, there is just enough blowby in the seals to keep the pedal from going hard.

Im uploading some videos of what my truck does. The clutch is brand new, but that was put in a year ago. My brother told me after the clutch was installed it started all that mess. The guy who put it in isnt very competent. So he probably put it in wrong. Ill have those videos posted on here soon or at least the links to them.
