Ok guys, ive got a MTX Thunder 9500 12"...on the MTX website it gives a recommended enclosure specifications to build a box for it. The sub takes almost a foot of mounting depth (9.737 ") almost 10 inches. And the box dimensions they recommend is 15" wide X 15" tall X 14" deep. So from the back of the magnet to the back of the box is only about 4". This is what they RECOMMEND. My question is....... what if the over all box is much bigger? say like double that size.....would the performance of the sub be better or worse? Would it hit harder or make no difference? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

Also with the vented box it is 22" wide X 15" tall X 16" deep.

go with what they recommend, they engineer the speaker to those standards for a reason. box dimensions can make a huge difference in the sound of a sub. Ant

u gotta think about the vent(port) too...the port has to have a certain amount of area in order for it work well with the ft^3 u provided...and the port is gonna be tuned to a certain hz....
