I have a new battery in my truck because my battery was old and dying if being on for more than ten minutes with out the car running, now with the new battery it is not dying quite as quick but still does not take long to drain, and when I read the codes I got a B1480 code and it says that there is a “battery run down protection circuit malfunction” and I’m curious if you guys have had this and what fixed it or know what could be causing it.

That is a very unusual code... In fact, it doesn't even show up in my list of trouble codes, which I've never come across before. Make sure it's not typed wrong. Assuming the code is typed correctly, I doubt anyone has ever come across it. You'll have to just do the amperage draw test and start pulling fuses one by one until you narrow it down to a single circuit and go from there.

Yeah my bad it is B1480🤦🏻‍♂️ I was multitasking while typing. I edited the thread to say the correct code.

Ok, that makes more sense. With that code, it's likely that something in the interior lighting circuit is not shutting off when you shut the truck off.
The battery rundown protection function allows the body control module to disable the courtesy lamps and the underhood lamp 20 minutes after the ignition switch is turned OFF. The BCM monitors the output of the inadvertent power relay on Inadvertent Power Relay control circuit.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

1. When the Inadvertent Power Relay control circuit is shorted to ground.
2. When there is an open or short to battery voltage on the Inadvertent Power Relay ground circuit.
3. An open CTSY fuse or open in the battery supply circuit to the Inadvertent Power Relay.
The above conditions must be met for 0.5 seconds.

I found that my ctsy fuse on the fuse block in the cab (fuse number 8) is open, with that I found other signs of potentially needing a new BCM, with that being said do you think if I were to replace the BCM and have it relearned it would likely resolve the issue or do you think there would be another open ground or short to look for instead? Also if there are any wire diagrams for the BCM as a whole it would be very appreciated.

I’m still going through other wires looking for shorts or opens in the system but when I was taking the plastics off to get to the BCM I saw an unplugged connector not plugged in right next to the brake pedal, the connector has purple, purple with a white stripe, brown, and brown with a white stripe wires, I don’t see any connectors to plug into and when I looked up this problem on here there is an old thread with no solutions, any ideas?
This is what it looks like

also I found a teal wire with a connector by the OBD2 port that I can’t find a plug for

Do i spy a big fat amp wire in your last picture? If so i would pull the fuses or disconnect power from the add on audio equipment. See what happens. If you have a amp with auto off after power taked away by head unit it may be holding the relay in the amp closed or back feeding into the factory wiring holding the circuit closed on the battery run down protection function. Just a though.

that 4 wire plug looks like one of the origs that plug in to the back of the factory radio...my truck had an after market sound system in it and I wanted the OEM Delco factory back in it...and as I recall, that was the kinda plug that was danglin unconnected, once I yanked that Pioneer system out.

As far as that single wire plug, the "teal" u see may be "Lt. blue" and according to Old's wiring diag. above and the general location, Ima guessin' it goes to the park brake switch

Anybody know where I can find a wire diagram for the connectors and/wires from the BCM? my problem may simply be I need a new BCM, but I want to verify it’s not a short or bad ground or a problem externally with the wires somewhere else before putting a new one in.

I might not be understand'n the question, but Oldeerslayer did that in his reply above...looks like 3 big connectors come out of it, C1, C2, and C3

Please advise what u find out-we love endings to stories, not cliff hangers ;-)
Looks like I’ll probably be replacing the BCM and relearning it, my ground connections and everything to externally looks good, so I’m waiting for it in the mail and will hopefully have a solution soon, I’ll be back to write what happens.👍🏻

Did you ever unhook your add in stereo equipment to see if there is any change?

I’ve seen people mention the head unit in other threads on the light staying on, I’m not sure what to look for with the head u it that would cause the problem, I bought the truck with an aftermarket head u it in it already, but i yanked it out and checked all the wiring when I got it, nothing seems out of place, but like I said I don’t know what I’m looking for🤷🏼‍♂️

The dealer actually connects to a GM Online service to program BCM's.
You can subscribe your GM vehicle for module programming for 2 years for $45. See the first item - SPS2
Gotta have a Tech2 or Mdi 1 or 2 Clones of each are under $300, but you need to know a bit about what you're looking for to get the right one. I went with a Tech2 because that was in service during the production of S10's.
