Can anyone tell me what the axle ratio is on a 97 4.3 automatic, 2wd, x-cab, without me having to crawl under there and scrap off the axle to find the number? Just thought i'd ask before I did. Thanks

i dont think its going to be on the axle housing anywhere, your probably going to have to pop the back cover off and count the teeth on the ring gear and teeth on the pinion gear and divide ring by pinion.

RPO Codes should tell you

Decode your RPO codes, that's how I found out what mine were.

There is a Way to find the RaTio
without popping the rear cover and
counting teeth........!
If you think the truck has he original rear end in it......! Go to the Glove box codes and look for the codes like these
GU2 =2.73
GU4 =3.08
GU6 =3.42
