ok im re doing my whole set up
im done with the front and everything
but i have some axel pads to put on the rear end

my bags wont be here till next wednesday "damn back order :flipoff: "
but should i just wait till the bags get here and mount the bags to the upper mounts and the axel pads to the bottom and tack weld them on or can i just eye ball them and weld them in and not have to wait?

or would it be a good idea to just wait another 7 days

Dood, I say wait. I don't know about anyone else, but I think i'd be better if you mount your bag and that way you can see where it's going to sit, then tack weld it, remove the bag, and finish the weld. Not sure if others would agree with me but thats my $.02

yeah i figured id ask before doing anything
im just so damn bored and i have to wait till those bags to get here to do anything else

but i figured that would be a good idea to wait
unless i feel like yankin out the front bags just to do that
but that would take too much time

well thanks man ill keep that in mind and see what other ppl say
if anyone else decides to waste the time to reply to this

ya, I would wait....

you need to have the bag in there so you can compress it so you know where to mount the upper plate...if you just guess, there's a good chance you won't lay out!

Wait a minute, it wouldn't matter what the compressed height of the bag will be because he was wondering where on the axel to weld it, not how high/low to make the bracket... So............. What the dili-yo? :dunno:

the old bags where welded to some crappy plates that where welded to the axel

dumb move!
old firestones and i blew half of em out
so i replaced them with slammed specialties!

but the uppers are fine i dont need to move anything
i was just asking if i can weld the axel pads on with out having the bags

because im bored and i want to do something but id have to wait till the bags get here next week

they are equivalent to the firestones!
but better u know

and yeah firestones suck ass anyway

and my crappy MAC valves started leaking and everything
so it was time for new stuff anyway

but i guess i cant weld them on with out the bags
well i could but it wouldnt be wise

the compressed height will matter....if the new bag doesn't compress as much as the old one...he will have to move the upper bracket up...and if it compresses smaller he'll have to move it down...

98sdime, I know what cha mean, but i was refering to what he was wondering at first, "where on the axel to weld them?" not "will I still lay if I get different bags". :p

if its less then it wont compress all the way

why the hell would i need to move it if its less

that would be a waste of time

it just wouldnt compress all the way but id still lay out

its gonna lay out regardless

2500 lb firestones where on there before

and the new slammed ones are the same as the 2500's

so its the same
end of story on the compressed height

i just wanted to know
if i should wait till they get here to mount the axel pads

or if i can do it with out the bags
