Looking at a lot of different link set-ups, I've noticed that people place the linkbar attachment locations in different spots. There doesn't seem to be much info on why they put them there. What type of changes occur when you place the attachment locations off the centerline of the axel?

if you look at the avtekks 3link install he has the tabs facing toward the back just a little. but it should not matter because the lower bars should be adj. so you can just fix it if you have some pinon problems im guessing??

In a side view look of rear axle, moving the bolt hole to the left or right of the centerline.

I'm designing a link set-up and was curious. The initial design had them on the centerline of the axle.

nothing at all, assuming the centers and lengths are the same.
easiest way to see it is with a full parallel link. move the bars around while keeping the angles and the length the same.

one thing is to optimize the mounting so there is less compliance.
luckily 2 force members are easy to visualize lol

If the bar lengths are the same and the angles of the bars to each other is the same, you're pinion angle change would be the same throughout the travel.

What you might run into is a difference in anti-squat characteristics, but not much with what little bit of difference you're looking at.
