I am putting a sub and an amp in my truck my question is how do I hook the amp up to the battery? I have the type of battery that has the terminals on the front and the wires screw into them(I don't have any top posts). Is there a way to hook up for example a 4 gauge amp wire to it?

Change your post screws out to a longer post. They have provision to attach accessory cables to them.Check at parts store or a marine supply store.
