It has come to my attention there is a problem with the SMC air filter that comes in the kit.
Looks like this,
What I need you to do right now is go out and look at your trap for a part number.
It will look like this on the case,
What you are looking for on your model number is this,
If yours reads EXACTLY like this,
AFM40-NO4-Z
STOP using your EDC right now.
Your filters IN and OUT ports are reversed.
Below is what the inside of that filter looks like,
See how the incoming water and oil are pressed to the inside of the filter element?
What this does is the oil/water has no where to go so it will clog up the air passage to a point of hydro lock. This after extended use can build EXTENSIVE pressure in the line although your gauge will read as little as 110PSI the line between the trap and the EDC will be s high as 550PSI at this point you will either snap a rod seize the compressor blow the line blow a head bolt or worse cause serious damage to yourself or truck.
The proper orientation for this filter should look like this,
With the oil and water going to the bowl and the clean air going out to the tank.
Good news there is a simple fix,
Simply remove your filter flip it around so the port that says IN is now your ‘out’.
The filter will now function as normal.
So what does that model number mean?
Where I think the problem lies is when airlift re-ordered the filter they forgot the ‘R’ after the ‘Z’ at the end of the model number, the ‘R’ will reverse the port flow and allow it to operate as normal.
If your filter has another listing on it for a part number please post it up here so I can cross reference the proper model.
If you need replacement parts for your filter here are the numbers,
You can contact SMC here for order information,

And here are the size specs for reference,
When Corey gets back from vacation I will call in and try to see how many ‘SWITCHED’ models got released. At least there is an easy fix to the problem if you catch it in time.
And if Corey you read this I recommend the AME line of filters they are made for vaporized oil filtration.
