theoretical situation:

put in my new springs and see that i have the lean. figure that maybe itll settle down. go get an alignment. notice that after awhile that it doesnt go away. i fix the lean with the spacer or but cutting. will i need another alignment?

im about to be in the theorectical situation in the coming week. so any advice will be appreciated.

yes you will. The 1/2" or so it takes to fix the lean will cause a big diffrence in the front end alignment.

correct and any time you drop the spindle and pull a coil it throws the alignment off. So either if you cut it or go with the spacer, you will have to align.
