I am thinking of trying out this airbox mod. Today I went and bought a K&N airfilter and tommorow im planing on doing the airbox mod.. is this just a cheap way of a intake or is it any better then a intake?

none better, and you won't notice an improvement like you would with an intake.

after you put you drop in K&N in let me know how it goes. I have a 2003 automatic and i am consider the drop in. I would rather take that 250 for a FIPK and invest it in some 17s

I did the easy swap, I just took out my airbox totally and put in a cone K&N filter where the airbox connected. heh.

just go with a regular air intake, I got the apc intake from jcwhitney.com for around 140$ and it takes about 20 min to install. Theres a noticable power difference, redlines quicker, chirps 2nd more aggressivley, and a MAJOR sound difference. the only set back is after you hear the intake you'll be shifting at 5grand every time.
