you still working on this?
Dammit, man! I completely missed this post. Was going through some tough times back then.

Anyway, I have the 8.8 torn down in my shop to be cleaned and narrowed (Doing the two short axle method). I 'd like to use the 'Vette parking brake assembly just because I don't like having inoperable equipment on my truck, but I'll need to source those Z51 backing plates, etc. Did you ever get a solid bracket kit put together?

I can have a set cut, but there's going to be some fab on your side. Let me talk to my machine guy and see what he says about costs. We can discuss the parking setup. Its not too complicated but a pain in the ass. I will post specifics later today.

What all do i need to buy to do the c5 swap on my 8.8? Wanna make sure i get everything. Whats the difference between the zo6 and z51
The 4 piston rear Z06 calipers do not require abutments. They bolt directly to the bracket on the axle. The c5, c6 regular and z51 have abutment brackets that bolt to the axle bracket and the caliper bolts to the abutment. The difference is the Z51 abutments are taller allowing a larger diameter rotor. If your rear axle has a big ford pattern, I can probably help you. If you have the other pattern, I have not mocked them up.

These parts are required to run the parking brake. You also need to fab a bracket to hold the ebrake cable. New there too expensive. I bought a used setup from vettenuts and around or under $200 for everything.

If you buy axles made and they don't have the holes from the ford pattern, getting the brake shoe bracket snapped in is going to be very hard. I used an awl and moved the clip around through one of the old stud holes.

I searched around on corvetteforums for a while. Plenty of Z51 caliper/bracket/rotor kits for sale, but none of the backing plate/parking brake assemblies. I'm gonna have to contact one of the Corvette dismantlers and specifically ask for those parts. That diagram is valuable visual info! Thanks for that.

How does the 'Vette parking brake lever compare to the F8.8 lever? In that diagram, it's just a simple arm. Is that accurate or just a representative drawing?

I've never compared them. As soon as I stripped down my 8.8, all the ford stuff was scrapped. You might want to take a vette rotor and see if the ford 8.8 brake shoes clear in the vette rotor.

The backing plates are pretty cheap, its the other hardware. I bought some dorman rubber boots for a silverado and cut them down to use with my ebrake setup.

Funny you say this. I was wondering the same thing as I was eyeballing the removed Ford parts on the shop floor. I didn't get the rotors with the rear since the yard would've charged extra for them and I wanted new ones anyway. I'll bring a 'Vette rotor to O'Reilly's and do some comparing against a Ford rotor. Wouldn't that be a great cheat if they could easily be made to work?!

Anyone still make the cailper mounts for the front ??
Sean might also make them if your using the s10 from brake rotor hub. He is reasonably priced. If your going to use blazer hubs Kore3 or if you google blazer brake conversion there are some pdf's floating around you can have a machine shop cut for you.

He has a thread in the sticky also. hi_im_sean <---- user name

so im gonna ask in this cuz this is a hot topic in this section now. I was wondering what size rotors can i go up to and be able to keep my 15" steel wheels for winter driving? I wouldn't be opposed to getting some 16" wheels if nothing works with the 15s.

I was looking at doing the ls1 brake setup with the 12" rotors right now cuz im gonna try and get some 17 replica C6 corvette wheels but if they dont fit with the drop spindles im gonna put on the ill bump them up to 18.
I want to keep running my 15" rims on my zr2 but I want to do this so bad. Any suggestions?

Get bigger wheels...no other option. You'll need 18's

He's right, You got to get bigger wheels to run a bigger rotors. I have 18's and the calipers are tight with the 13.4" rotor. Do you have the two piston calipers? Blazer brakes are a great upgrade from the single piston caliper. I might be able to clear 16's with oem VETTE rotors but never tried it.

Re: "Actual" corvette brake write up with picks

I don't have every thing finalized on the rear brake stuff. I am working with moon on getting the spacers worked out for everything to bolt up without a hitch. But once I have the spacers worked out I do have more sets of brackets that will be available.
Hello, I was wondering if you still had a couple of the kits available for sale to do the conversion on a 86 4wd? Front and rear?
