well, sad to say but, my 2.5l is going out, i think the rod is broken. 2g's for a shortblock. any suggestions on that? anyone selling a 2nd gen blazer? i figure that i should just buy a 2nd gen blazer and restore the 88 later on when i have more money. what do you guys think. what does the average blazer run? im hoping on something around 95 -96 hopefully nothing more than 4 or 5 g's that possible? or would it be a better idea for the shortblock?? what options would a new shortblock open up?

i would rebuild it.it only took me 2 days to get mine fixed.last Friday i was on a trip and was 150 mile from home. i took a freind to get some shit from his rents house. and when we were there his dad asked us to pick up some clear coat. so we said yes.and on the 50 mile trip to geth the coat i spun a bearing. easy fix right. wrong. remember i am now 200 miles from home were all my tools are and money.so i get AAA to tow use to rents ghouse were there is a sop and i can pull the motor. so i rip the motor out in about 2 hours.then we load it up in his dads van and run back here to Phoenix.get back here about 2:30 AM.get some sleep and then get to work on the motor.pick up a machined crank kit for 125.00 that is bearing and crank. and a piston with rod for 25.00.the and bearing welded itself to the rod.then i say ****ing in rebuild the whole thing all but the head.piston rings.gaskets and timming set..ok so i get everything home and get to work.hoan everything get it all put together and now it is 9:00 pm. and load it in the van and drive back to Benson get there at 11:00.and jump out and get to work on my stuff.air tools are great.i drop it in and get it running now it is 7:00am.and head back home with out even breaking it in :)..now see it is not heard and will not take that long just jump in to it and get it done.after allsaid and done it cost me 300.00 to get it all done the same price as a junkyard motor and didnt have to worry about it now working....so i say rebuild the bitch

would ifi could but cant, its not a matter of know how its a metter of having acess to what i need to do it, i mean it would save me 2700 instead of a new motor, but i dont have the proper tools or space really.

well. right now i am all for getting a newer blaze but, unfortunatally that includes convincing my dad the getting a rebuilt engine with zero miles is a worse choice than getting a blaze

yeah, right now my interior is almost gutted. i took out the bench seat (replacing with some lucious caddy seats... i hope they fit) , took out that fugly platic floormat thing and im re-carpeting the entire interior.... then im stripping the zebra print fur off the dash and my black and white fur off the doors and puttingblack tweed (hopefully), just doing as many projects as i can until i get my new block.

You can get a real good 1st gen or a decent 2nd gen for the money your talking about.Or you can get a really good 4.3 1st gen or older 2nd gen S10 easily.Make it a ext. cab if you want some more room.Unless your heart is set on a blazer.Just be patient and look around.I cant see putting money back in to a 4 banger myself.I have always thought they were under powered for a S10.But thats my opinion and nothing more.
