I didn't know this section was here, so here it goes.
I had bought a 98 S10 SS with a bad motor back in November 2013, threw a L35 motor in it and had it on the road by February 2014. I joined the S10 Forum back in May of 2014, while looking for information on S10's.
I was working at an Advanced auto parts as a assistant store manager. The little truck was fun to drive and was a really nice daily driver.
On Halloween night of 2014 I was headed home from work around 5:30pm. Didn't really have anything planned as it was before grand kids. My son was 33 and My daughter was 31 so...
As I was approaching the highway ramps to turn left to get on the highway. A little maroon Ford Focus came from the left oncoming lane into mine. I tried to miss it but it clipped me from the left front corner all the way back to the rear. It picked up the back of the truck as the rear wheel followed up the hood & passenger compartment. It spun me around about three times and I ended at a light post. I was extremely shaken but UN-hurt.
The guy that hit me pulled over until the cops came, admitted fault. They took him to jail because he didn't have a license or insurance. Come to find out it wasn't even his car...
I called off work for 3 days, the boss told one of my best workers & a friend (Fred) what had happened. He called and we talked for a while. Fred said that one of the Key holders at work boyfriend wrecked her car Friday night (same night as mine). Her boyfriend had reached around to the baby in the back seat. The baby girl was screaming about a piece of candy that she couldn't get the wrapper off of. He told her before he knew it a car was coming over the hood of my car. Fred worked with the gal over the weekend. Fred told her that "Randy" was in a car wreck last Friday night too. They put the 2 & 2 together and the next Tuesday when I got back to work. She wouldn't look me in the face. Finally about an hour into work she said something. She was terrified that I was going to fire her over the car accident. I told her that my Insurance was covering my truck, but she owed me the $500 deductible. She agreed that she did, but within the month she filed bankruptcy and quit the job...

My wheel/axle & a box of car stuff I had in the bed. The car the other guy was driving is behind the Ford truck. The Ford truck guy was a witness to the whole thing. I'm thankful he hung around...

Police wouldn't let me leave it for an hour for my son to get here. The tow company took it and dropped it at work 3 miles away. My son picked it up from there. I made him a tow bill and the insurance paid for it.

What's left of the truck so I could save the motor and transmission. My nephew's work truck had a lift crane. He used that to put in next to my shed.

Holy cow - you were fortunate, and good to know you came out OK. If the impact would have been a few feet closer toward the front, the outcome could have been really bad.

Wow...glad you weren't hurt. Too bad about the truck. Are you still a member of the B4U Task Force?

You got that right! I had just looked away to make sure nobody was barreling through from the off ramp. When I saw the car I pulled a hard right to try to miss them. I did get out off the way enough to walk away.

Didn't know that, I guess that it was a clone? the Other RPO codes made it pass as an SS. Truck gone so it's no matter now.

Just for fun...these are the codes for an SS.

B4U – SS Trim Package<---has to have this to be a real/true SS!!!
L35 – High Output 4.3L Vortec V6
M30- 4L60E Transmission
G80 – Locking Rear Differential
GU6 – 3:42 Gear Ratio
YC3 – LS Trim
ZQ8 – Sport Suspension

BTW...'98 was the 2nd lowest production year....'96 being the lowest.

The thing that I see that isn't correct is the 122.9 after the serial #

Sounds like "Lazarus" had been wrecked & resurrected more than once.
Once with a cab off of an extended bed, and then again when you replaced the engine.
Even Lazarus eventually succumbed, though. But not to a Ford Focus.
That's nuts!
