I took my 1997 4.3 to my mechanic to diagnose a high pitched squeel starting at about 20 mph.
He just called and said it's not what I suspected, driveshaft support bearing or U joints.
He thinks it's the transmission.
Anyone ever experienced this or heard of it?

A young fella I know that used to be a Dodge transmission tech said if I pay attention to my RPMs when the squeal starts and powerbrake it to the same RPM, if it's the transmission, it should produce the same squeal.
I tried that and it doesnt.
I'm also wubiquitousondering about my carrier bearing and U joints.
I'd think it possible that they might produce a squeal.
Sounds like when brake pads are worn out and squeaking.
