Hello
I have a 91 with a 2.8 and 5-speed. What is the sensor on the passenger side of the block in the middle, it's round with the white connector. reason why i ask is because i am in the middle of a slight overhaul of the motor and i removed this sensor and found that nothing come out well i looked in the hole and it had a lot of gunk in it. When i removed the blockage i got alot of coolant. so i take it that this is a temp sensor. so i cleaned the hole and cleaned the sensor. and i also would like to know if i could use the same sensor out of an 87 cause i have an extra from that truck.
thanks for your time

That is the Knock sensor. If the 87 was a 2.8 you can use it. You can not use one from a different engine size. At least when a person swaps a 305 for a 350 it needs to be changed.
