87 fuel pump wired wrong

Brand new member today. First post. New to me 1987 S10, 2.8 v6. Been going through the lights, vacuum hoses and turn signals and ran into my 1st problem. When trying to activate the right side blinker (have checked the blinker bushings) the light does not flash but activates the fuel pump. With key on. Might be some jankey wiring by a previous owner,bur would like some ideas where to start.
