Hello All,
So my truck ran when I bought it but kinda crappy and I had to get it towed home because it wouldn’t go over 35 mph or just flat out died on any incline. Now it won’t start without starting fluid but still runs real rough… I’m going to check plugs in the am but outside of cap, rotor, plugs and wires what could be the issue? It only has 106k on it and the guy said he was driving it daily… but not if it ran like that.

Thanks in advance!
Glenn

86 is fuel injected. Could be dirty filter, etc. Tune it up first and see what happens. Obviously these things need to be done first. Clear the codes (they may be false due to very poor running) and see then what comes back (if anything). If it still runs poorly, I'd start looking at fuel pressure (bad pump), etc. Also check your timing. The distributor could be loose and turned a bit.

Yeah, you aren't throwing money away ever on tune up parts. Definitely takes some of the guesswork out of it.
