I decided to go with a LQ9 cam so I would not loose the bottom-end torque but gain some hp. My objective is more of a daily driver. I picked up this cam from a guy on market place. He had bought a new LQ9 and upgraded to an after market cam. So the cam was basically just a breakin hrs cam. It came with lifters seals all for $20 plus shipping. View attachment 368122
The graph for the LS6 cam above that I posted, the 5.3 he used for testing was stock with the stock truck intake. I'm sure the Dyno graph will look different on my 5.3 since I put 243 heads with + 2cc forge Pistons bumping my compressing up to 10.6.1cr and I'm going to be running the TBSS intake. So with the 243 heads and TBSS intake, I'll be flowing more air then a stock 5.3 with a cr of 9.5.1 and stock intake manifold.

This is not what I wanted to post today but due to circumstances beyond my control at this time my Ls swap Will be held up until March or April of next year. I will post why in off topic later today there will be plenty of foul language. I am not a happy camper.🤬

Some good news, today my TBSS intake arrived. Only bad thing is the engine it came off of must had some serious blow by the whole inside of the intake is well coated in oil. It's going to be fun to clean. Or they used the cheapest oil on earth that vaporizes when it gets hot. You can finger paint in the oil on the back of the throttle body that's how thick the oil is. I will post pictures after it's clean.

My wife ordered me a custom engine cover for the TBSS intake manifold but it won't be here until after Christmas. It comes bare metal so I can put whatever color I want on it. I'm going to go to the powder coater and see how close they can get to the color on my blazer. Here's some pictures of what it looks like.

I already have a set of Gen IV rods out of a 08 6.0L had my machine is check them out before I used them. What was nice with the summit racing Pistons and the Gen IV rods the piston weight was pretty close to the original 5.3 rods and pistons just over a gram difference so my machine is said not to worry about balancing it since I'm not rev it over 6500 rpm. But I'm sure it won't be that high after I have it Dyno tuned. I'm sure they're probably be more like 6200 rpm or less with the ZO6 Cam, I think it starts falling on it face after 6200 rpm in the 5.3L.

My 5.3 sounds great all the way to the 6800 red line, but I'm probably making terrible decisions every time I go there.
Right now I'm keeping my expectations low right now until I get it on the dyno. That way there is no disappointment.

For my Blueprint 6.2, they are stating a 6200 redline. This was also the cutoff on the dyno test.. Agreed on the power loss after 6200. HP is still up there, but torque starts to drop at 5500. Dyno chart and cam specs below. Hoping to start the swap in March/April.

Cam Specs:
.612 Intake .585 Exhaust
225 Intake / 238 Exhaust duration
@ .050 - 113 degree lobe separation, 110 ICL

Thats the realm of LS design that all other mfg's wish to emulate. Best in class Power band , torque curve in compact , simplistic, low cost, ultra reliable pkg. That doesn' t need engine destroying hi RPM to achieve it's specs.

The FoMoCo 7.3 godzilla is an excellent example of same architecture with wider bore spacing that shares all above except low cost. Crate variation is proving popular amongst well funded projects
