I recently had someone swear up & down his 3KCD behind his 4.8L is a 4l65e. He even blocked me because I said 3KCD is a 60e not 65e...

He probably swears it came behind the power house 4.8.
You're better off blocked.

Yep! That's where it was. He got offended I told him it was a 4l60e and spewed a generalized insult like "I'm tired of dealing with you idiots who don't know nothing!" or something like that. Then he replied back that someone bought it. Then I saw it for sale the next day & reported him...
A local seller has a listing for two 4L65e's "These transmission Fit 07-08 only no other year one is 4/4 other one is 2 wheel both has a warranty, They are 600.00 each "

I finally found a 4L65e from a reliable licence shop but is 4hrs a way and he wants $500. plus $150 core. The shop went through the transmission cleaned it up put new filter, pan gasket and replace the front and rear seals. with a 30day warranty I would like some advise on this. I can find used 4L60e for around $400-$600 locally with no warranty. Rebuilt runs around $800 plus core from a small shop.

Unless you're ready to fire and have some fun, you'll most likely be out of warranty by then.

6KCD is not a 4L65E. Just an LS based 4L60E Thats were people get confused. You cannot tell the difference between them sitting next to each other. The tag tells you M30 or M32 RPO codes.

I'd bet on FBMP there are 3 times as many 4L65E's sold as were ever built. Weren't 90%+ 4wd? Which means a complete teardown if you want it in a 2wd. So why not just use a 2wd 4l60E and add the few parts while it's apart.

So 5KCD is wrong also. I do not see a 4SSD,7HBD, 8HBD,9HBD, 9HED on the PDF.

One guy recommended that I install Zpak, wide band and a transgo upgrade. Price was an adder of $100 to the $795 price tag. Truck will probably not see the track. I wanted to be able to DD this. I will add a trans-cooler for sure.

How do we get codes from ATRA? Anybody know? Their site isn't exactly user friendly... maybe if you're a trade member.

you would have to be a member and attend the training seminars. the information on my PDF file is not complete. I have been looking for information to complete it for 5-6 years... Nobody wants to share 2006-2014 transmission codes to make/model/engine.

i would have to give ATRA the benefit of the doubt then. Typically the KCD units in the past have been 4 pinion planets. I know I have torn down a 5KCD and I cant remember if it was 4 or 5 pinions planets. I'm going to make a post on it from another site and post back if I get anything

I reviewed my list that I have and and 5KCD, 6KCD are for 5.3L engines and are not supposed to be listed in that, my mistake. The original post has been corrected and 5KCD, 6KCD have been removed
I am confused as to why the 4L70E has a higher torque rating than the 4L80E... The 4L80E as stated in this article, The Legend of the 1999 Aston Martin DB7, came in the DB7 Aston Martin and in a few Jaguars and I've always heard they could handle closer to 600hp. Anyone here taken a stock 4L80 up to near that power before?
