I own an 82 S10 w/2.8L V6 that was rebuilt to 30 over stock.
I just found a 5 speed tranny for an S10 put dont know the year it was made. I know I can change body parts up to about 95.
But how far can I go on the tranny. I know that there where 3 trannies offeried for the 82 ( 2- 4 speeds & a 5 speed) the only diffrence that I read was that one 4 speed is a 77.5 mm and a 4 & 5 speed where 77mm. The reason I'm asking is the place that
I found the 5 speed is selling parts up to a 96.
Thank you for any answer you provide.

As long as it has a 60 degree bellhousing on it or you can put one on you can use it.

I just replaced my 4 speed last week, to a 5 speed out of a 92 s10, my 86 had a gear drive speedometer and the 5 speed has electric. As long as the tranny has a 60 degree bellhousing it will fit, the speedometer and odometer on mine doesnt work so thats about the only problem you will have to worry about... AND MAKE SURE THE THROWOUT BEARING IS GOOD, I used an old one and i had to walk from my brokendown truck about 3 miles home this morning, because mine went out.... sucks
