Hey guys, I asked awhile back about this conversion and someone replied saying that it would be hard to do because I would need to get a new automatic steering column and everything else. Well, my question is could swap in a 305 with a th350 and just install a floor shifter kit for the th350 or is there something I am not considering that would make this difficult to do? Thanks in advance!

But why a TH350? GM hasn't used a 3 speed automatic in 40 years. An 89-92 700R4 will make it launch harder with the 3.06 low gear and better engine life and fuel economy with .7 OD gear. A 700R4 can be built as strong as any TH350. They also sell 4 speed auto floor shifters. Or you could take one out of any Blazer with a floor shifter since the later 4L60E uses the same shift linkage.
When I did a stick to auto conversion I removed the clutch pedal arm and then cut part of that pedal off and welded it to the existing brake pedal to widen it. Once covered with the pad it's not visible and it saves having to remove the brake pedal assembly. Just put something over the carpet while welding.

Just have to remove the clutch pedal and enlarge the brake pedal, but why not a 350??? You'll get better power. I don't see why you would have any problem.
Honestly thought about the 350 but there’s a local guy selling a 305 for $50 that was in the basement of his new house, I figure I throw in a gasket and ring set and call it good as long as it has no major issues.

I’m much more familiar with th350s and have always found them to be reliable is the main reason, I don’t have a huge budget and th350s are also pretty inexpensive and plentiful in my area.
