Hello, I’m trying to do a 4.8l swap into my 1988 s15. I already have the motor and trans but I’m having a hard time trying to find parts without spending a bunch of money. So far I’ve been researching 621 bellhousings and also swapping the 14 spline input shaft with a 26 spline shaft. Just looking for some insight to see if there’s some sort of kit I can get that’s got the bellhousing, clutch, hydraulics. Thanks

Trick these days is finding a decent NV3500 from an S10. At least in the upper midwest it is.

Since the OP is in MN he could just run over to Zumbrota, half way between St.Paul and Rochester, and pickup a freshly rebuilt NV3500 for a 99 Silverado 4.8. Might even talk them into building one with an S10 1st gear to eliminate the Granny gear the full sized trucks got. Maybe even have them put the shifter in the right place for an early S10.

The S10 NV3500 will bolt right up to the 4.8 and use the factory 4.8 clutch. Might be easier than using a different 5 speed behind it.
just don't forget to shim throw out bearing when installing .....don't ask me how i know

It's good practice to measure the throw out travel as well as clutch disengagement even on a stock S10 setup. The S10 master is on the small side compared to other vehicles that use the same slave cylinder. I switched to a larger master with my T56 swap and added in adjustment at the pushrod and a pedal stop. I can really dial in where the clutch operates and make sure it's fully releasing. That's a giant rabbit hole, though haha

Of all the odd things I used a M/C from a 95 Dodge Ram haha

It has a larger bore and uses the same square peg that fits the factory square clutch master hole in the S10 firewall. I cut down the ring on the pushrod and threaded it for a heim joint, but otherwise used it as is. There are 2 types made and the plastic version fits better than the metal.

ya i custom made my clutch rod adjustable just because i could ....worked out very nicely . i liked the shorter Wilwood version to fit because of air-ride
