I have a 92 Sonoma GT that I want to put a v8 in. At my local junkyard there is a 4.6l northstar v8 out of a 2006 cadillac srx. Ive done a little research and from what I've been able to tell there are no manual options for this engine setup? The engine itself would be $450 to pull from the junkyard. Has anyone done this swap? My big question is how do I pair a manual RWD tranny to the engine. I saw someone say something that a s10 bellhousing has the same bolt pattern and would then open up transmission options?

Even cadillacs didn't like having the North Star engine in them. They love to pop headgaskets
For 450.00 you can have a 5.3 out of a truck which will be 10x easier to get in and function

As long as you go with a LH2 you’ll be fine, you won’t have to worry about head gaskets, and it’s a RWD platform. Plus it’s 320hp 315lb ft from the factory, there used to be an outfit out of Canada that could tune your PCM/ECM and get more out of them. They did a number on my STS and really woke her up, not that it was a slouch to begin with…removed the speed limiter as well. They used to be quite active on the Cadillac forum so you could check out there, or their website Northstar Performance - Cadillac Head Studs, Cadillac Head Gasket Repair, Northstar Engine Repair

I have an '05 STS in my yard right now. I have Mack and Detroit trucks in our fleet that don't leak as many fluids that the STS does. I did the head bolt inserts in a '99. My one and only time and the last. You can get a factory supercharger for the Northstar pretty cheap off ebay from an XLR-V. I personally would not go for this swap as it isn't a popular swap but maybe a Cadi forum could help more.
