As a retired guy with lots of time on his hands, I'd make them my new hobby.
I emailed right after they extended the last time about 10 days ago. It takes 2 to 4 weeks to get a reply. I don't dare call because I might say something I will regret.

Quick update...

Got my CPW harness and E67 ECU yesterday. (y)

Spoke to Chuck at Finish Line Transmissions and decided we will go with the Level 5 4L65e with the Sonnax Smart Tech Input housing and the HD overrun clutch.
. I will get this order started by the end of June with 50% down. He has a 1-2 month backlog right now.

Now I need to figure out which converter to run Precision (Vigilante) or Yank . Will most likely be the Yank w/2800 stall. Will send to Chuck and he will install and run this on the dyno when he tests the trans. Yank SS Series Converters

I am really glad that my wife does not see everything behind this project! Alimony payments would REALLY impact my build plans! 😆

Transmission has been ordered from Chuck at Finish Line. It will be about 3 months before it is delivered. Specs below - I will add the Smart Tech housing and HD Overrun hub and AN fittings. About $4200 total with the core charge.

I decided to run a Circle D triple disc converter - 3000-3200 stall. I will order this and send directly to Finish Line and they will install and run this on the dyno when they test the transmission.

After this, the only high $ part left to buy is the Holley high-mount system. I am hoping to tear the Blazer apart in Jan-Feb and see what happens.

Quick update...

Planning to tear into this thing the weekend of March 11. A brother and friend (serious car guy) are coming to Colorado from Cali to go to a concert anyway and we are going to rip into this - 2 birds, one rock. I also have a couple of local friends that want to help. My plan is to have the new engine/trans in place by the following weekend and then take a couple of months to get everything plumbed and hooked up. I was not planning on starting this until end of April (never know what Colorado weather will do) , but I will have the help and I have no excuses (other than excuses) not to jump into this!

I am down to small things (starter, fan controller, Lokar trans dipstick, AN fittings and lines, etc.) and exhaust remaining. I am finally getting excited about this.

Transmission is done at Finish Line and Chuck is working to ship it by the end of this week. A couple of photo's below from the dyno test - pretty seksy! 😎 In talking to Chuck, he is going to start working toward semi-retirement and is going to stop doing transmissions that need to be shipped soon. He has enough local business to keep him going and shipping is a pain. Great guy to talk to!

- Circle D Pro Billet 245MM Converter - 3200 stall - received and tested on the transmission dyno by Finish Line. (y)
- Circle D Billet Flex Plate is in the garage and ready to go.
- Holley High Mount Kit received a couple of weeks ago. Shorted a couple of (important) parts - working with Holley to resolve.

I am not much for doing videos, but I may do some during this swap. Will definitely be a lot of pics. I will probably start a swap thread, but we will see.

Don't get me started on Holley! Before I start this, I will say that I am a Supply Chain Manager by trade for a large global company and have been for a long time. My job is global logistics, purchasing, parts and customer service. We'll leave it there. I had the option to order my front accessory drive kit from Summit, Jeg's or directly from Holley. I figured "cut out the middle man" and ordered straight from Holley. Cost is the same and there "should be less risk". Well... The entire process with Holley has been a complete train wreck from the beginning (shortages, poor communication, late replacement orders, etc.)! Depending on their response tomorrow and how they resolve THEIR issues, I will tell the whole story here and let everybody know. I have 94.2% 🤪 confidence that they resolve the problem, but I am not a happy customer. Again, I do this for a living and have high (but realistic) expectations.

On a positive note, Glad I have my transmission and the Holley issue won't stop the drivetrain swap in March! WooHoo! 😀

Will definitely be taking a lot of pics of the build process!

Short update:

Good news: I have the current drivetrain sold for $1200. That is for everything from radiator to driveshaft - full 67k mile drivetrain. The buyer will be at my house the day it all comes out and will take it away immediately! Get it out of my way! (y)

Semi good news: Holley is slowly sending me the correct parts that they shorted me on my front BLACK accessory drive. They are working to resolve it, so I won't bad-mouth them too hard. As ridiculous as is is, they missed the alternator, Sanden AC compressor, grooved idler pulley and smooth idler pulleys. They literally sent me less than half of the kit. In an attempt to resolve this, they then sent me the natural finish alternator and AC compressor (instead of black). Now they are sending me the other parts one at a time. As of today, everything has been shipped except the correct black Sanden AC compressor.

I just ordered a full Racetronix plug and play fuel pump harness for install with the Quantum 340 fuel pump. Should make it easy and was only $80. Also ordered the Powermaster mini starter and Lokar trans dipstick.

As of now, I have EVERYTHING (I think anyway) to support this full swap except plumbing, driveshaft, exhaust, etc. There will obviously be a lot of other little things. Everything starts in 4 weeks from this weekend! Hoping to have this done by the end of June - we'll see...

Did you order these parts piece meal? They sent mine in 2 boxes at the same time.

Nope - I wish that were the case. Just ordered the entire kit and they said it all shipped in a single box - only had 1 tracking number for a single 44 lb box. I opened the box immediately when it arrived - I knew it was light and did not feel right. I called them up within 15 minutes of the receipt. They really did not question it, but have been very slow to resolve it. Glad it is getting resolved. The alternator and pulley are in transit and scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Once I get the AC compressor, all will be good!

Which ac compressor did you get…hoses at the rear or on the side?

Sanden SD7 with side ports. Is this the same version in your build? I know it was tight. Holley also sells the adapter, but not sure if it would be needed. I have the small/short adapter also.

I am going with the Cobalt bottle and an E67 ECU. Should be able to clear up a bunch of space vs. the stock ECU and bottle.

I bought the kit to make my own hoses. It was a bit spendy, but it nice to have. I took Connor94's advice and called Cold Hose in Florida. Trisha is a genius when it comes to AC. The line from the bottom of the eval core where the office tube is, pops up in the way of everything. I had Cold Hose build a fittings that attaches to the condenser and goes straight back to the core. I had to do a bit of a clearance job on the battery tray so that the could get the hose down there to charge the system, but it works fine.

Great to know. Thank you! Can't wait until I am at the point where I am worrying about hoses. That means I am getting close! I may ask you for a few more details at that time. Maybe I could even copy the order that you did with Cold Hose. 😀

It has begun... Engine and trans were pulled last Saturday at 66.9k. would have gone to 67k, but the tank is e empty and I did not want to add any more fuel. Thanks to local (prior) S10 owner Rob for all of the help! Man! There is a lot of harness in this thing!

Plans for the week. My brother and a friend are due from Cali tomorrow afternoon. We are on a mission.

- Wed - pressure wash, clean and rattle can as needed. Other than the mess from a leaky oil pan and rear main seal, from cross member back, it is VERY clean with little needed. Pull old harness, cruise control, throttle pedal, etc.

- Thurs - Chill day - final cleanup and blues concert in Denver.

Friday - Lay out the Current Performance harness and any other engine bay activity. Drop tank and install the Quantum pump assy and run the -6AN lines to Corvette fuel filter. Install new throttle pedal bracket and TBSS pedal.

Sat - Sun - Engine/Trans install. Full Holley kit. Install front drive assy. Test fit headers to check clearance for v-bands. Also Nascar race day and will be grillin' and chillin.

We'll see if we get to the radiator and core support.

More updates during the week.
