The column shift cable in my 2002 Sonoma 4.3 auto, 2 wheel drive broke.
I can't find a listing for one and am hoping someone knows of an alternative.
There is a floor shift listed on Rockauto but a youtube warns they don't fit.
Any input appreciated.
Thanks
Randy

A floor shit cable will not work on a column shit truck. You can use a 4wd or 2wd cable. Here a 2wd on Rockauto.

Did the 4 x 4 shift cable boot fit properly on your 2wd truck??
The cable its self looks like it will fit fine but the boot is an issue for me.
Rockauto will replace it but I don't want to waste their time/shipping needlessly.
I'm debating whether to chop boot off off the 4x4 cable and try to glue it back on.
Thanks
Randy

Autozone also sells a Pioneer brand for $114, probably a little bit better quality compared to the SKP but for $47 it will probably do the job for a good while.

Appreciate it Mr Unknown:
We don't have Autozone here in Canada.
Any locals I tried locals don't have a listing.
I'll phone around again to double check.
Looking like Rockauto for about $100.oo
Takes a week but that's better than nothing.
Thanks

Right on Rick!!
They have a nice selection of cables and prices.
I'll have to see if they ship to Canada or have a branch.
Thanks

Hey guys.
The cable arrived today and it looks fine other than a dust boot issue.
It's molded on the cable backwards or upside down if you get my drift.
It fits the floor hole fine but the "cable boss" is angled exact opposite.
Could there something I'm missing as far as installing it goes??
It looks like I'll have to cut it off but I sure don't like the idea.
Exhaust fumes are always a consideration with vehicles.
Chop it off and attempt to glue it back on??
Thanks

Send it back and get the right one. Probably Dorman lack of quality control. No one told the children working on the assembly line that it has to go on in one direction only.

Hopefully these pics come through.
Hopefully I explained the issue in an understandable manner.
I just got this Rockauto cable today after waiting a few days.
Rock auto is great to deal with but I'm hesitant to return it.
None are available locally, Id prefer a butchered one over none!

I can't imagine the boot is on wrong. Silly question...the end for the transmission is at the transmission...right? In other words...installed correctly? Again...doesn't matter if it's from a 2wd or 4wd and long as it's for the correct shifter.

(Edited)
Let me try to explain, it's very simple but also very complicated!
It's the boot, if that's the term, where the cable goes through the floor.
It's the one to keep dust and exhaust fumes from entering the cab.
The boot hole where the cable goes through is opposite the original.
The hole is molded specifically to guide the cable through the floor.
The raised and angled boot hole points in the opposite direction.
The boot is tight on the cable, it can't slide over the end to reverse it.
The cable its self is OK and attaches to the column and trans fine.
Hopefully this is understandable!!
Please check pics. above.
Thanks
Randy
