I have a 1993 S10 with a 2.8L with a 5speed. It still runs and drives, but I also have a 1996 Z28 Camaro LT1 with 5 speed as well, not being used currently due to collision damage. I am wanting to put the LT1 with the tranny in the S10, what all would be required in order for this to be up and running? I am confused if the 2.8l motor mounts would work, or if they would need new motor mounts for the LT1 or if there is motor mounts that just bolt to the 2.8l motor mounts. Also as far as the transmission goes how would I convert it to fit in the correct spot for the s10 shifter hole? I read about the driveshaft and other things, but I havent found one discussion where anyone is doing anything similar to this, if there is one please link me to it. I am wanting to make this post and post updates as I go along, this will be my first ever swap of any kind so help is needed and appreciated Thank you

No disrespect but I have been going on trying to "read" everything in the V8 Discussion forum but alot of those are people with different size motors than mine, different swaps, I have not yet seen 1 post talking about an LT1 swap, I am not able to find anything specific to go from a 2.8l to LT1 let alone a 350, now I know im new on the site but im pretty sure I can work my way around a computer, unless I am doing something wrong, please direct me to a discussion of 2.8l to LT1 swap

It doesn't matter if it's a 2.8 to begin with. All of the sbc's are the same size and install the same.

Sorry if I hurt you in anyway, I am inexperienced with doing a swap of any kind, all I was looking for was for some help on what correct parts to locate. I did not think I would be starting a discussion just to plainly be told, to figure it out because someone else may have already started that discussion. That I am unable to locate or find the correct or best suited to my project. I was excited about joining a forum on something I wanted to better my self in but you absolutely just ruined this experience for me. Thanks for nothing

I'm not hurt at all. If you're as inexperienced as you say, the first thing you should do is go thru all of the build threads. It's called gaining knowledge. Did you even bother to look at the stickies at the top of the page? It sounds like you want to be spoon fed instead of looking for the information.

If it makes you feel any better, there is a handy search feature that works fairly well. There's multiple 2.8L to LT1 threads in here, and that's without going to the advanced search...

It's been gone through so many times it would be pointless for it to be rewritten again. Plus, a lot of the people who have done that swap aren't on the forums anymore.

An LT1/SBC is the most common swaps ever done on an s10 since about 1984. We can all provide a wealth of knowledge, but it does get repetitive every week explaining you need swap headers, s10 oil pan, notch the cross member, recess the radiator, shorten your driveshaft, modify the trans cross member, and then figure out the wiring.

Then again, a 1996 LT1 in my opinion should be left in the 90s. 25 year old wiring is fragile, and I would suggest an aftermarket harness/computer set up such as the one holley makes.

Almost everyone in here daily drives a V8 swapped s10. We can all help. But, literally pull your LT1 and trans, take your s10 apart and start putting them together. From there, it’s all very basic.

I think TRANSADAPT makes a S10 Swap-In-A-Box that has dang near everything needed to drop a SBC into an S series.

But, if it were me, having a few SBC S10s in the past, the LS platform is vastly better in nearly every way for a swap that you can enjoy everywhere, every day, every time.

I found and ordered the trans dept mounts already, some people say you notch the frame others say you dont that's why I ask for help, the transmission as well I just want to know if anyone can help identify if my 93 s10 2.8l has a t5 attached to it. My understanding I would have to switch the tail end on my camaro transmission. But idk if my s10 has a t5 so I'm still trying to figure that out. Nor did I know about the oil pan and I would assume pickup tube, also I am working with what I got if I could get a ls I may have done it but as of now just wanting to make something out of my camaro.
