I got a engine oil cooler on my '89 4.3L, coming off the remote oil filter.. Problem is I gotta replace the rad with one that doesn't have the cooler in it. Anyone seen a standalone engine oil cooler that would fit? Or where I could get fittings to bypass it? Standard pipe fittings are the wrong thread, I need 18 threads per inch.

I was thinking of a tranny oil cooler, but the fittings would definately not work and doesn't the engine oil run at a higher pressure than the tranny?

You'd probably have to cut the lines and splice in new ones for the new cooler. Permacool and Derale sell heavy duty oil coolers. If you're going to bypass the radiator cooler you should get a big oil cooler with an electric fan on it. They're about $130-150.
