So, I understand the doors have vents with flaps near the latch to allow air pressure to exit the cabin.
these flaps are outside of the vapor barrier to allow air to pass. Makes sense.
so what, then are these??
these are at the hinge end of the door, under the vapor barrier. It’s a heavy, sticky, thick, paper-like substance. It extends down 2-3 past the opening. This is on the driver’s side. It looks like there used to be one on the passenger side, but it isn’t there now (and I didn’t think that door was ever apart).
Anyone know what the heck this is and what it’s used for? And can I safely remove it since it doesn’t seem to be the same size/shape as original?
thanks!!
