Took the carpet out of my 87, and found what looks like heat shield material glued to the bottom of it. It's seen as the white

color in the picture, aprox. 1/2" thick. Should I reuse it on the new ? Or, shop for something different to offer sound/heat protection.
Thanks !

It's over the cat converter and where the LH down pipe is close to the floor pan.. It helps keep your feet cool. It will pull off the old carpet, the insulation may separate from the plastic outer covering which is glued to the carpet. Use spray-glue to re-attach the insulation to the new carpet, with or without the plastic covering.
