I found the vacuum line right side engine compartment going to the vacuum canister rotted out. I replace the line. I also noticed a smaller plastic vacuum line coming off the vacuum tee disconnected/not going anywhere. I did some research, and it seems to be for the HVAC system. My AC/ heating air controls do not switch from vent to defrost or floor. My question is, where does it go into the firewall? Does it go into the main electrical harness? If so, at what location? I do not see any signs where it would enter the electrical harness. Does anyone have a photo? I really don't want to run a new vacuum line. Thank you in advance.
It goes down by the steering column...by the electrical bundle. Take the panels off there inside so you can see the firewall and you'll probably see the hardline someplace close by.
Those plastic lines like to break just inside the electrical tape around the dash wiring bundle. Unwrap the first 6" of the tape and I'm sure you'll find the other end of it. You can splice the 2 ends of the plastic line where it's broken with a piece of rubber hose the right diameter. IIRC it's 1/4". Might be smaller like 3/32.
In the picture the whole vacuum hose assembly is rotated 90° toward the passengers side. The lower left hose in the pic is the one that goes to the reservoir hidden in the fender between the cruise module and the ABS module. Wouldn't hurt to replace the one that's fixed with electrical tape.
