I found a super clean 1997 dash pad to replace my trashed 1994 pad , same stereo , same climate control , even speaker covers and glove box door will interchange so hoping to reuse my gauges, bezel etc with new pad but have been told by a few it can’t work . Any input on what and why it won’t ? Thanks

Great Find! That Looks Really Nice, I am not sure at all about crossing over 97 to 94. I replaced the entire harness in the dash in my 95 with another 95 so I think you could maybe put your 94 harness in the 97 dash, might have to change over connectors but should be achievable in my opinion.
hopefully @deathpheonix chimes in, he has a ton of knowledge on this stuff.

The physical dimensions are the same, you must change the dash harness to match existing. Theres a few wiring changes that will haunt u if dont swap dash harness, dont be scared, its not that difficult.
Just lay out both and keep separate, reuse the existing wire holders inside back panel of dash.

The 94 trucks used a 1st gen round steering column. The 95-97 have a more rectangular one that is a lot wider. A pic of the cluster area would be a big help.
