Hi guys!
I tried using the search option, but I couldn't find anything with pictures or detailed help.
I have a 1988 S15 that I put a Vortec 350 in. I'm having trouble putting the radiator in with the fan.
I read on here that people like using the corvette Rad More Information for APDI/PRO 8010829
and the fan off of a ford taurus More Information for SPECTRA PREMIUM CF15041
What I thought was going to be a plug and play thing turned into a whole nightmare for me, and now I can't figure out how to mount it all up.
Anyone using something similar give me some guidelines? Did you have you notch and cut the radiator support? custom rad mounts? do you have the fan tucked in the grill itself?
thanks guys! I'll try uploading some pics of what i have tomorrow when its light out again.
thanks!

You're pretty much going to have to cut your core support up to move the radiator forward into it. I found that early 2000's Cadillac cts fans fit well with some modification. They're pretty easy to get at a junk yard, too. Some say dodge intrepid fans work well, but seemed a little wide to me. The Taurus fans are very wide.

You'll find that they make a "short" and "long" water pump for the small block.
I used a short aluminum housing pump on my swap which allowed plenty of room to install fans. I didn't have to cut the rad support. The only issue is going to a "V" belt system for the accessories (with the short pump).
You can probably use a snake belt with some mods, or using the correct spaced pump pulley
I also used a fabricated aluminum radiator which are all over ebay for cheap $$
I had to make simple brackets for the top radiator mount, I modified the fan shroud (cut it) for the bottom mounts where I later used some bottom radiator mount rubber saddles from a mid 80s C10 and adapted them to the lower rad support with t more simple brackets.
I'll see if I can find the thread about it.

There is also the C4 Corvette water pump that is "shorter". About 3/4". You have to use a Mercruiser pulley with it to get the serpentine belt to line up with the other accessories. It eliminates that snout for the fan clutch.
On my current LSx swap that snout was a non issues because it sat between the two Intrepid fans. On the last Vortec (377) I did I still had to recess the rad, but that was my own fault for using a 2" thick radiator. Which it really didn't need.

That's an interesting solution. I'm curious on the cooling capacity. It's hot here in Texas. Pics?
No pics. I'll take some as I put it back together in the coming weeks. Picture a 10" electric fan in each opening of the core support. Only had to trim a little of the grille. Wasn't enough room to do it any other way.

It was hot in Florida where I lived when I first did the swap.

Alright, so I recessed the radiator as far into the support as I could.
With the radiator now recessed into the support, it gave me 4" from radiator to the pulley on the waterpump. my current fan is 5" thick so it won't work. I decided on going with dual fans.

Could someone confirm that these flex-a-lite fans should fit onto the radiator.

I read on here that guys liked to use the 210 fans, but it looks like they discontinued those. These were the closes fans in dims that I could find.
only concern that I see is, the radiator is 23-9/16" and the fans are 26-1/4".
anybody running something similar and can give me some insight?
thanks!
