1988 S10 Instrument Cluster Removal

134 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  msdibble
I am attempting to remove my instrument cluster on my 1988 S10 (See Pic).

I don't know how to get around the HVAC panel in order to access the bolts on the dash & instrument cluster.

Any ideas or suggestions on how I can get around the HVAC panel in order to access dash/cluster bolts?

There are no Youtube vids on it.

Unhook the electrical switches , and the clips on vacuum and the cable for the slider controls. Clip on cable as well Uses a 7mm retainer screw as i recall. Its tight but has to be done to get the bezel off.

The HVAC panel has to come completely out like Brawndo said. It is a PITA to get everything back on when going back in.

I was afraid of that!

Thanks to all for the replies!!
More and more I'm inclined to just operate without the upshift light. Not as if I ever really used it anyway.

Just for grins I mounted a little 2" tachometer over in the driver-side corner of the dash (using velcro in the event I want to get rid of with no damage).
I've found that with this 2.5L 4 cyl, my max RPM's are 1900 at 75 mph. Speedo only goes to 80...LOL!!
