Can someone with an '86 tell me were the ignition coil gets mounted? I'm in the process of putting a 2.5 back together and can't figure out where the coil mounts. Pics would be great. Thanks.

You can see the coil bolted to the bottom of the intake with the wire hanging down. Idk exactly how it's mounted though

Thanks for the reply. That's the newer generation 2.5 (1987 and up).

1986 used a different intake and throttle body. The coil mounts differently.

As a side-note, 1986 was the last year for V belts. They went to serpentine belts in 1987.

new to this forum so sorry if I put this in the wrong place. I need to adjust dist to set timing and I cannot for the life of me get a wrench on the bolt to loosen the dist holddown. It is 2.5 with air. Must be a trick to be able to get hand down there under the intake and around the a/c hoses. Is it better to get to it from underneath the truck.
