...started hacking the brackets off the rear axle, in the next day or two will do the same to the front axle. Then will break them both down to be sent out for sandblasting. They are coated with a rust proofing material, and it's much easier to weld on clean steal than try removing that crap. The rear axle will get a truss, leaf spring and shock mounts. Then off for powder coating. I don't know (yet) what gear ratio are in these axles, so not sure if a rear gearing is in the future..

Trimming the casting on that superduty and removing all the brackets is the hardest part. Many t shirts and arm hairs were sacrificed in rebuilding those axles. Actually I would say it was the 2nd hardest part of my swap because my D60 front had a completely seized up u joint that was clocked all the way to the steering stop. I still have all my old setup bearings and junk for regearing if you need a set.

yea it sucked for sure.. there are still a few nubs and probably 2 or 4 hours of finish grinding to do. I’m going to send the front and rear out for sandblasting. That way both axles are clean, bare, ready to weld steel.

Cool, not sure yet, but I’ll keep it in mind, not sure if I’m going to do a gear change or not, but will see. Thanks for the offer.

I think this is where I'm happy at, raised 4 inches and stretched 8 inches should have plenty of stuff room for the 40s, and fit all around with no issues. Time to get fabbin

got the 1 tons all stripped and found out they have 4.10s which is nearly perfect for driving on
4.10 gear at 45 mph on a 40 inch tall tire = 1550 RPMs
4.10 gear at 60 mph on a 40 inch tall tire = 2050RPMs
4.10 gear at 70 mph on a 40 inch tall tire = 2400 RPMs
4.10 gear at 80 mph on a 40 inch tall tire = 2750 RPMs

also Atlas transfer cases said they were backed up to march.. so i went with NWF underdrive set up for the 465/205

the 205 transfer case has been rebuilt with the new updated and much stronger main shafts, gears and NWF gear splitter..

The sm465 has not been completed, but once it does, the entire drive train of my personal scout will be ready to rock.

489ci/sm465/titan/np205, 'late style' superduty 1 ton axles, 4:11 gearing...
