'03 ZQ8 4.3L A/T (100HP) shot ?

I have a low mile excellent condition 2003 S10 ext.cab ZQ8 4.3L A/T...
It's 4-5 dropped and has good sticky tires. My question is how well does the stock 4.3L respond to a NOS wet kit jetted to 80-125HP shot? And I am curious as to what jets I'd used to reach a safe decent HP jetting for the truck? I'm very serious about gassing this truck but have no experience with S series trucks. Been an F-body drag stripper and street ripper for as long as I can remember and nitrous on an LT1 is way different than this truck. The fuel pressure is way higher and that's what's confusing as well as scaring me away from the idea. I just sold my beloved 97 Firebird Formula LT1 6spd 11.80 sec nitrous fed toy so I have my loot to play some for my S10... I really would like to get this thing into the 13 sec range so I'm needing someone with experience to please shed me some light here before I start off in a bad way! Future plans are headers, custom 2 1/2" y-pipe into a single 3" catless exhaust. Custom 3 1/2" cold air kit with 9" K&N, electric fan assembly to replace this huge power robbing stock fan & clutch, 3.73 gears and some new clutches for the differential.. Open for suggestions!

Someone on here certainly must have some insight on this subject...!
I'm going to do the install this weekend and I'll post some pics, but I'm really clueless as to what jets I should use...I need an idea of a 75HP,100HP, & 125HP jetting for this set up if anyone knows for sure....
Ok, have found a starting point for the stock 98-03 S10 4.3L...
75HP shot is Nitrous jet #41 / Fuel jet #22.... I guess this will get me started anyway but I'd really appreciate any suggestions and input you guys have to offer...
I can't believe the nitrous guru's haven't jumped in here yet man. I'm a boost guy so I can't help you. Just give it some time and some nitrous experts will jump in here and send you in the right direction.

I would love to help you, but I only know the NX stuff :(

I think if you call up NOS and give them your fuel pressure they should be able to get the jetting pretty close, and then hit the dyno for more finer tuning of the jets.

Hope that helps?
Thanks man, I kind of figured calling will be a good idea... Then yet a dyno tuning session will be my best bet... I just wanna have some fun at the track against my F-bodie buddies and their stock 13-14 sec 6sp V8's...
try www.robietherobot.com/nitrousjetcalculator.htm thats where i go. I got a stock 4.3 and im sprayin a 100 wet shot. but i got a y-block thats got an adjustable fuel jet in it.
Ill get back to you later today if no one answers your questions by then

I had one of the NX techs tell me that my 100HP shot will be the exact same jetting as LS1 set up... 50-55PSI fuel pressure makes jetting different than what I was using on my LT1...
52 N / 28 F jetting for the 100HP shot..... What are you using to achieve this goal???

Im running 52N/28F as a 100 shot. I have my fuel trim tuned for 13afr NA and with these jets Im getting between 11-12 I think. Its been a while since I ran it hah stupid winters.
I had a regular cab v-6 auto with the same mods you are planning for. My best time with a 75 shot was 14.3 in the quarter. I don't remember the jets though.
i wouldnt run nitrous im just against it so im a little bias for it.

i would look into a wynjammer for it id do it to my truck if i had the money def would be your best bet to get into the 13s fairly easily.

did u get a tuned PCM for it yet? Id do that aswell from wait for me performace talk to jesse he will set you up its about 160 bucks and makes very noticable difference in the trucks performance i will be getting one soon my friend just got one in his zr2 and i was very satisfied with the resualts.
I'm not trying to be an ass but getting into 13's with a jammer is NOT easy! A ~75hp increase from 6 psi and a mail order tune is not going to get the average 16+ second 1/4 mile S10 down into 13s. There's no way my truck was getting into the 13's with 7-8 psi without some serious gearing or other mods.

Shift firmness/speed, less torque management and better throttle response make a satisfying difference in the feel of the truck but the HP gains from a tune are insignificant compared to forced induction or nitrous. If you could even get a 25 hp shot of nitrous it would make a bigger difference in power than a normally aspirated PCM tune. If you set up/use nitrous correctly it's at least as safe a most of the SC's available for the 4.3. Do a search and see how many engines here have eaten impeller parts vs. how many people have blown one up with nitrous. (I don't have my nitrous set up yet so I may eat my words later on :D)
...If you set up/use nitrous correctly...
This is the key. You need to invest in the correct equipment and set up. N2O is very safe when run properly. All the "kids" that threw a "naws" system on their cars, hit the button and the car went boom gave it a bad rap.

Agreed. Nitrous can be a very easy way to make a lot of power. I never got into this thread since I don't run fuel injection and don't know NOS numbers. But if your willing to set the truck up right 13's shouldn't be a issue.
Hoping for 13's out of mine and so far the nitrous is working out fine for me, I have all the precautions and safetys in line so As long as you dont half ass a nitrous setup then I think you'd be safe to run it.
i kno a few ppl with n20 and they all say one of the most important things is to make sure u r to the floor or boom

Well not being all the way to the floor won't cause a boom. But nitrous should only be used when at wide open throttle and the RPMs are climbing. You never want to lug the motor.
