I called this my 'downgrade' when I first got it, but now I absolutely don't feel that way lol.

In 2021 (Which, like, how was that 2 years ago) I had been with a new company for about 8 months and decided I wanted a new truck. The V6 W/T 2014 Sierra was great, but yeah.....V8 2020 RST Silverado leftover...before prices started to shoot up...and with an Eaton Discount and 0% financing. I mean, come on.

So I pulled the trigger and bought my first BRAND NEW truck.

Except, I really didn't like it that much more than the 2014, and watching the insanity that was happening with money was making me nervous.

So I sold it for a 6k profit to Carvana. LOL

Bought this:

A really nice 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe .... in 2WD!

But a complete base fleet model. Vinyl Floors, Seats, Manual Windows (Ok, I like that part)...but in great shape, needed nothing right away, and under 100K. It just seemed logical for my Towing/Daily needs.

So I drove it as is for about a year. Was/still is a fantastic SUV. I can see why everyone loves these - they are truly good at everything.

And its me, so I lowered it.

3/4 using Belltech parts. Used ZQ8 bump stops out back, and Z71 full size up front. You'd honestly be hard pressed to notice it was lowered riding in it. I put helper bags in the back.

I LOVE IT.

Changed out the seats, console, added keyless and a higher level BCM to add fogs, auto lock, ect.

Fantastic vehicle. I love driving it. Every modification I have done has made it feel more modern. Absolutely one of my overall favorites, and I've bought and sold alot of vehicles.

Do you Realize that this is a S10 , Sonoma, S10 Blazer Forum??

This isn't a Tahoe Forum, I think you're in the wrong forum.

Bahahaha

Guy sent me a pm full of butthurt.
I like it! Is it the 4.8? What was involved in the brake swap?
Hmmm...
How many times have I posted non S10 projects here?
Even though I have a sh*t ton of those S10 rigs.
I should have a palpitated flying sphincter muscle at this point in time :ROFLMAO: (figure that out)

Weird.
Forum members like to see different projects sometimes (I think?)

BTW... She looka belly nize!

Oh boy. Maybe forums aren't dead after all! LOL
He's new here.

Yeah it's a 4.8. They didn't offer a 5.3 in a Fleet/Base until 03? I think. I don't know, its confusing. Reading option lists on these are weird. You can definitely tell that they knew they weren't going to sell many to civilian use. (And they didn't, Base became Fleet Only after 02.)

Honestly, a 4.8 and 5.3 drive about the same. I'm really not sure why the 4.8 was even offered, but I usually root for the underdog so I'm a fan of them. Second truck I've had with one, they do everything I ask just fine and do well on fuel. This pig gets 20 MPG. I used to have a 92 Roadmaster which I towed with and I always wondered why the general public went to these SUVs in droves....I get it now.

Brake upgrade is really easy. I used a universal brake line that didn't have the bend at the end of it.

Then some 1/8" washers to center the caliper on the rotor.

That's literally it. It's become a pretty popular swap as the dealers can buy out the original calipers from a Brembo Upgrade for about $50 and an enterprising tech can resell them as a kit. I got the rotors and pads for free, calipers I bought new in 21 before they shot up in price.

Nice!
I can tell you for Fleet purchases, they want the cheapest deal they can get. Most purchases have to go out for bid. Lowest bidder wins for out fleet unless a vehicle was spec'd out a certain way.

Awesome truck. I see you post it often on the IG. I swear those year trucks and suvs just last forever and do well with mods. Beautiful Tahoe bud.
