60 ft or 60mph?

my 60ft times are in the 2.3's

0-60 was about 7.7-7.8 on a G-tech

i havent really measured my 0-60. but i've read from an article that the xcab, 4.3, auto would do 7.9 sec.

i was somewhat disapionted, but a bit of mod here and there should bring that number down.

that's pretty good. what engine mods do you have?
Custom intake, MSD 6A Ignition, MSD 8.5MM spark plug wires, Hypertech Power Programmer w/ 160 degree power stat, Helix bore Power Tower throttle body spacer, Flowmaster 2 chamber w/ turndown before the axle:thumbup:

way more to come though. i am assuming pretty good gains from JBA headers, SLP y-pipe, and a punched out cat.:evilg:

If you put on the JBA's and the SLP Y pipe DO NOT gut your cat
just remove the pre cats or your truck will lose to much low end
torque. The 4.3 needs some back pressure to run good.
And before anybody gives me a bunch of bull we have tried all
this at the drag strip with diffrent mods. On a 96SS and 2000
Xtreme and a 98 GMC /ZQ8 and a 97 Jimmy.:evilg:

From Sport Truck Mag. 1999 Xtreme 4.3 5spd. 0-60 was 11.33
Did not saw what gear ratio was in it.

truck and car reviews give 96+ 4.3s a 0 to 60 in 8 or less
that sounds a lil more like it. oh and could you please give your opinion on the whole cat punching subject?

I ran true duals and no cat's on my first gen, and the gains were amazing. This was done with 2.5" mandrel bent all the way back. IMHO, the faster that you can get it and burnt and then out the better...

Gutted Cat

I have tried this on my 96SS & my 2000 X went to the track not
the Butt dyno :evilg: always ran better with the cat left stock
but the pre cats removed:thumbup: when a cat back was
installed. Have heard stories of a low end loss when the SLP
Y pipe was installed because its to big. Computer controled
engines look for certain perameters if not found they try to
make their own and sometimes this hurts your performance.
You would be supprised at what they look at.
