  1. Running Problems

    2.5L - 1st gen 4-banging
Well as long as you use all the 92 sensors you should be OK running the 92 ECM in the 92 truck. Don't think they made any changes to the engine itself in that period.

Doubt they're needed where you are. Probably never seen a wiper post that was all orange when you take the nut off, either. Oh, the joys of living where they put 20 tons of salt per lane mile on the highways each year. On a 4 lane that's 80 tons per mile per year. And most of that is...
  3. 2003 4.3 cam?

    262ci Forum (4.3)
No. The last few years of S10 production the 4.3 used a special cam sometimes referred to as the quiet cam. Messing with it won't make the engine run better. I'm sure the Cam Manufactures will gladly sell you one that "will work". But the return on investment will be negligible and to get any...
  4. Winter Tires

    Wheels, Tires & Brakes
I agree salt is an acid which causes cancer in metal. Since your from Southern Michigan you are probably well aware of the effects of salt. And it is really hard to completely wash off come spring. We run Firestone Winterforce 2 tires on our 02 Blazer here in WI. I'm happy with the handling and...

Maybe the 89 ECM is bad. Are you putting an 89 engine in a 92 truck? Or a 92 ECM in an 89 truck? They may be pinned differently.
  7. Water leak passenger side

Or you could use the right tool for the job. :) Really depends on where you live. In the salt belt you'll need it. $6.36 on ebay or $18 on Amazon for the exact same thing...
  8. 1998 S10 Workshop Manual?

    S10 / Sonoma
I've always wondered what happened in 98 to cause the need to make more "98's". With the strike I'm sure they had a pile of back ordered trucks to build so the dealers could have the traditional model year closeout sales.
  9. 4WD - gone?

    Articles - Driveline
Need to see if the cable is moving. A mirror might help. It only moves 1/4" - 3/8" or so. If it is moving raise one wheel and turn the tire with the cable pulled and truck in neutral. Look to see if the front driveshaft is turning. If it is everything up front is functioning. If not there could...

How many miles on the engine?
  11. Transfer Case Input Seal

    Transmission & Rearend
It's a pretty straight forward seal replacement. You have the right parts for your TC. I have found parking the truck with the nose uphill slightly aggravates the draining toward the rear. I do it with some of my trucks so rain water doesn't collect in the front of the bedliner. I should just...

Did a giant autocross bug bite you recently? Those bugs are fairly rare, but hard to cure.

    1. under the bed. If it's rusty you'll likely need to cut them off. 2. got to be higher than the tank 3. You're going to need heavier than 1x1 wood frame. Remember this has to hold up to 70mph sustained winds. 100mph if you are driving into a strong head wind. 4 & 5. Start with a bigger...

You can stick a 4wd pickup rear half on it. They all have a mid frame seam on each side.
  15. 1998 S10 Workshop Manual?

    S10 / Sonoma
It had one or the other or both when manufactured. The changes were in 99-00 so a ZN4 98 might have gotten in on them. I thought it was late 99 into 00. I thought in 99 they did away with the traditional EGR valve, but there was something built into the back of the head on the tutus that served...
  16. 1998 S10 Workshop Manual?

    S10 / Sonoma
About the only difference between the 98 and 99 is the later year has that dumb secondary air pump. 98 rear lights 98 backup lights -these wires are in the same harness as the rest
  17. Suspension coil springs

    Baggin' It
Is there a difference between 4.3 ZQ8's and the 2.2 ZQ8 springs. I'd think the tutu ones would be a little weak for the added weight of a SBC. Not much heavier than a 4.3, but a bunch heavier than a 2.2.
  18. LS swap. Question about pinouts and programming

    LSx Discussion
Thanks for the input. I also considered using 3 or 4 8mm extra thick washers (3MM). Wondering if they might absorb some of the expansion. The spring idea would be good if I can find small enough ones that are strong enough and can tolerate the heat. I have some of the old 2.8 ones around...
  19. Oil pressure drop

    S10 / Sonoma
What year and engine? You can hook up a temporary mechanical gauge to see it has oil pressure. 2.2L Engine Disconnect the negative battery cable. Raise and safely support the front of the vehicle securely on jackstands. Remove the right fender wheelhouse extension. Disconnect the oil pressure...
