Plugs in when turning? The lash on your new lunati should only be 1/2 turn off zero lash. Yes they are tight, i run 60lb oil pressure cold and can easily hit 79lb taking off cold. How tight are we talking about? avoid trying to turn it over and over until you prime it.
Sorry, haven't been on in a few. Will definitely prime the oil system and yeah I went straight up. See what happens. Question though??? I honed the cylinders, reset the rings as they should be and the engine is all together as it should be (I've done rebuilds before with no problem). This is the first 60° rebuild I've done and I'm wondering if it's normal that this engine is so ridiculously tight!!!??? Set the valve lash, etc... but you almost need a pry bar to turn the crank. Why???
also prime the oil system right before you install and run its a pain to do it when its in because it flows so much oil in the dizzy hole it will come flying out. i tried using a rag to cover the hole but it pushed it through like a filter. priming without the dizzy in will only pressurize the drivers side oil gallery that feeds the cam and lifters, but it was enough. no aftermarket oilers for this motor unless you have a old dizzy you can modify. Did you end up degreeing the cam> or did you install straight up?
Yeah, I remember you mentioned that before so I took your advice and bought 2 bottles. I think after that I'm gonna run Brad Penn or something with higher zddp levels. Still a while before a run video, but I'll try and make it happen. Just bought some cross drilled slotted rotors with ceramic pads in hopes that it'll stop OK. My brakes have always seemed touchy on this truck though.
I'm telling you that cam is rough, I was able to run 4500 rpms on a pass couple days ago. Use the advertised lunati concentrate for the first 20 minutes drain and use conventional straight 30 with another bottle of lunati concentrate for the first 500. Didn't see your visitor message until now. You gotta post a run video too. Since our cams are in the 260 duration that put us with a stage 4 cam. Your not going to get good vacuum either but it doesn't effect the brakes that bad.
