Weird wiper

I had the windshield replaced several years ago on my '98. I never noticed beforehand but the right wiper blade doesn't touch the windshield at the end of the blade. The wiper length is correct. Could this be the wrong windshield?

Re: Weird wiper

More "traditional" blades fit better. Those beam ones suck on the passenger side. I've thought about taking a heat gun to mine to try to get it to sit down better.

Re: Weird wiper

I've had two second-gen half-trucks, and both have been that way. The wipers still clean "99% of the largest triangular area" of each half of the windshield, which is the FMVS standard for wipers.

I know it's petty but there is about four to five inches of the wiper that isn't used until it gets 3/4 the way up the windshield. It also causes the wiper to wear funny.

Calm your boobs, I was just giving you a hard time. I'm annoyed by silly things quite often myself.

Re: Weird wiper

I'm with manbearpig on this. Those beam wipers suck on an S-series. Too much curvature of the glass. The old style work much better. And don't sit quite as high on the pass side when parked.

Re: Weird wiper

Those style may work fine for you guys. Try dealing with those in the ice and snow. They're junk.

Re: Weird wiper

Actually I've had more problems with the beam style in below freezing weather than during the summer. I believe in colder climates like WI and MI the best wipers are the old school rubber covered winter blades. They may not be "cool" looking, but they do the job. Usually under $10 each depending on where you get them.
This is of no interest to the OP in NC.

Re: Weird wiper

Yeah, those are junk too.I'd rather have some sweaty socks attached to the wiper arms. They're not waterproof so water gets into them and it freezes. I've lived in MI.my entire life and have done snow removal for a good chunk of that time as well. Believe me, I've tried them all. I'm glad they work for you guys though.

Re: Weird wiper

I agree there isn't much that works when doing snow removal. We have a 1/2 mile driveway and I use a 94 K2500 with your basic old style western 8" plow. If the wind is blowing there isn't anything I've found that works other than slowing way down to eliminate the overspray.
Sometimes if the wind is coming at the truck at a 45 angle from the front I nearly have to stop to see where I'm going.
