Looking For An Air Dam

1 Attachment(s)
Hello, attached is an image of the air dam on my 99 S19 Xtreme. As you can tell, it has two large cracks going down it due to the previous owner. I'm looking to completely replace it but I'm having a tough time finding an aftermarket air dam that looks similiar to the stock air dam... If you know a place I could get one, please tell me! Thanks! (Sorry about the snow)

Check with goes2fast. He tried aftermarket...junk He found an oem replacement. You might have to wait a bit since he's in the Philippines right now....time difference you know.

As soon as goes2fast gets off the beach, I'm sure he'll chime in on where he got his.

Thanks guys, will wait to see what goes2fast has to say. I have been really enjoying this truck and its been running like a champ so im starting to get a lot of the body work on it done since im likely to be keeping it long term.

I just went thru goes2fast thread on his truck. Looks like he got it right from GM.

Oh, those cracks. Couldn't see them in the little picture above.
Any competent body shop should be able to repair that.

Re: Looking For An Air Dam

I'm back, was sick for a couple oI brought the first after market copy to my painter he told me that he always has problems with getting the paint to stick to them. When we opened the box it was a real POS, thickness ran from 1/2 inch to paper thin, and it was already ripped. The Ebay seller evidently knew what kind of quality it was and refunded my money without making me return it, told me to just toss it in the trash.

I got a genuine GM replacement from GMPartsDirect. They are a GM dealer that sells at a pretty decent discount on the internet. They are in Albuquerque so it only took a couple of days to get to me. Excellent service, and good prices for genuine GM parts.

Sorry, it took a while to chime in, was very sick my last day in the province, and took a couple of days to get home then a couple more to recover, but I'm at about 97% now!

Almost forgot, a bodyshop had tried to repair my original, and it didn't last, so that is why I replaced mine.

Well if you keep hitting curbs with it, of course it won't last. :smile2:

Funny how repairs to rear urethane bumpers seem to hold up much longer. :rotf:

Ive got quite a collection going of damaged ones that I may one day tackle with my welders and Fusor 153

Yours looks like an easy fix,I would grab that out of the dumpster for sure.
On a side note been thinking of trying the Envoy one with built in fogs on the X - X cab.
Has anyone tried one?

Re: Looking For An Air Dam

The envoy uses a bumper cover, and the height isn't going to match the body with ground effects on it.

Re: Looking For An Air Dam

I just did this a few weeks ago.

You need to buy the lower piece from gm. There is no way around it. Everything else is just garbage. A buddy of mine works at a gm dealer here locally and I got a pretty decent deal on mine which was split beyond repair.

I ordered the steel part from rock auto and it fits pretty spot on, but could fit better in some spots.. Some of the lines donít line up perfectly but it will do. (It was $200 cheaper on rock auto)

As said above a competent shop can fix that but thatís getting harder and harder to find these days..

You're tuff enuff to take some jabs.

I have a grand daughter who thought I didn't like her because I was always picking on her, until one day see realized she was the only one of my grand kids that I teased. Now she picks on me and we laugh a lot.
The boys need a heavier hand to keep them from hurting each other or breaking things.
My 10 year old grand son shot his first deer this season. Only a button buck at 50 yds, but did drop him in his tracks.
